Magny Cours Update
October 26th, 2010
I was out of Imola on Sunday night after the race and back home in Andorra on the Monday which gave me a couple of days to train before heading off the Magny Cours. We drove up there and it was good to have the family with me again. Qualifying was ok but some of the guys put their best times in on the Friday and I ended up 5th on the grid with 3rd to 5th covered by only 2 tenths. We made a few set up changes and the bike was better on Sunday for warm up. Come the race things were different, I got a great start and was behind Kenan and Eugene. Kenan pulled a bit of a gap but I was right behind Eugene and by lap 4 I was thinking about where I could pass him and set about catching Kenan as he had a championship to win I thought I had a good chance of winning the race. Then on lap 6 the bike stopped briefly, then started again. I put my hand up but then it seemed to go again, this put me back to 6th, on the next lap the problem just got worse and I crossed the line in 13th and pulled in on lap 8. I was pretty upset. It turns out that it was electrical, one of the coil wires was failing and the bike was down to 2 cylinders. Not a great end to the season but I’m really looking forward to working with this team for the next 2 years. They are so professional and well organised, we have a great winter testing programme ...   Read more...

Imola weekend
October 19th, 2010
Imola was a tough race, I knew I had the pace to run at the front as the grid was set in Friday qualifying as it was wet on Saturday so I hadn’t had chance to get a good lap in so I started from 6th position. I got pushed wide at turn 1 off the start and ended up in 14th at the end of the first lap. I made up 3 places on lap 3 and just kept my head down and tried to do fast laps. By lap 12 I was up to 7th but Roccoli and my team mate Fujiwara still had a gap, I caught and passed Roccoli with 2 laps to go and then Chas Davies bike stopped on the last lap and I got past Fuji for 4th which was the best I could do and I was pleased I made such a good recovery. When I came around the last chicane to see Kenan and Eugene on the floor I thought I could get 2nd but they both managed to get back on the bikes and cross the line in front of me. That just left a 1 week gap to Magny Cours where I won the race in 2005 so I was keen to get a good result there again.
