Aragon Test Update
December 11th, 2010

At the end October we had a test at the new Motorland Aragon circuit in Northern Spain.. I rode on the first and final days of the test, and my new team mate David Salom rode on the second day. This was a really good opportunity to test at a new circuit that we will be racing on next year. We use a different circuit to the GP’s which has a tight hairpin which is not great, I think I’d prefer to do the GP circuit. Anyway we wanted to work on a few things that we do not normally get to try during the season like different gearboxes and the test gave us a chance to do that. It went pretty well and we did what we needed to do by the end of the test. We were not that concerned about lap times; it was much more important to learn the new track and find good settings. We have another test in Almeria at the end of November then a break over winter.

Mettet Update
November 25th, 2010

I had a great time at Mettet at the beginning of October, the weather was perfect for 3 days which made it so good and the new circuit was much better than the old track. We went there to enjoy ourselves and that’s exactly what we did, the organisation was really good, I got to have some family time, the mechanics we took from the team were really good and they had a great time too. We only used a standard engine so next year we’ll probably need to tune the motor a little to be a bit more competitive. I had one small low speed get off on the dirt but it was no problem. I’m looking forward to doing it again next year.

Magny Cours Update
October 26th, 2010
I was out of Imola on Sunday night after the race and back home in Andorra on the Monday which gave me a couple of days to train before heading off the Magny Cours. We drove up there and it was good to have the family with me again. Qualifying was ok but some of the guys put their best times in on the Friday and I ended up 5th on the grid with 3rd to 5th covered by only 2 tenths. We made a few set up changes and the bike was better on Sunday for warm up. Come the race things were different, I got a great start and was behind Kenan and Eugene. Kenan pulled a bit of a gap but I was right behind Eugene and by lap 4 I was thinking about where I could pass him and set about catching Kenan as he had a championship to win I thought I had a good chance of winning the race. Then on lap 6 the bike stopped briefly, then started again. I put my hand up but then it seemed to go again, this put me back to 6th, on the next lap the problem just got worse and I crossed the line in 13th and pulled in on lap 8. I was pretty upset. It turns out that it was electrical, one of the coil wires was failing and the bike was down to 2 cylinders. Not a great end to the season but I’m really looking forward to working with this team for the next 2 years. They are so professional and well organised, we have a great winter testing programme ...   Read more...
