Performance improvements in qualifying for the Le Mans MotoGP
May 17th, 2014
Just finished qualifying in Le Mans, we had a pretty good qualifying considering yesterday was a bit difficult, its been quite cool here in the mornings and the lap times have been quite difficult to get up to speed and to understand the Bridgestone tyres. In the second practice yesterday we lost a lot of time, we had a problem with both bikes, we started one bike and it stopped while warming it up, we went to the other one and it had a crack in the swingarm so we lost about 25 minutes which was valuable time in the hot conditions. Coming into today we made quite a few changes and the bike felt better. I could get in a good rhythm, its been a while since I could find that rhythm so I’m pretty happy to feel more comfortable on the bike . In qualifying we lacked a bit of rear grip and I was spinning off the corners so I lost quite a bit of time coming onto the back straight and the front straight but we had a couple of guys behind us and I’m in the battle with the guys we need to be battling with. Tomorrow’s going to be a long race, its quite physical around here with not a lot of breathing time, we’ll change a few things tonight to try to make the bike easier to ride over distance.
